Been Lazy

Posted in Uncategorized on August 1, 2008 by curseoftongues

Ok, so I know I haven’t been around much as of late and I applogize. I haven’t been around because I have been having a “Burnt Out” stage…AGAIN, I’m trying to ease my self back into the game and try and get my priest out of that horrid Terrokar Forest and into the nice lush greens of Nagrand.

I have signed my self up to a Karazhan raid on my druid for this evening, Hoping that I get a spot. This raid might be the raid that says I’m ready to rock ‘n roll again on my characters, Priest is once again my main focus and I’m determinded to get out of Terrokar Forest and see the world…..and get to 80!

It was nice to write another post, hoping to see you all around later :)

Holidays…FINALLY

Posted in Uncategorized on June 1, 2008 by curseoftongues

Yes I can finally say Im on holidays, 2 weeks to be exact. I plan to be blogging more and playing my little priesty. She dinged 63 a week ago or so, due to RL and injuries I hadn’t been able to play her until today though.

I have decided to make some goals for this 2 week period of holidays, keeping in mind I should keep them realistic. But Im not to good at making realistic goals, maybe you guys can help me? Feel free to post any suggestions on what goals I should have for my priest.

Sadly I have no news for this post, so it’s only a short one. Be sure to check back later on in the week though.

Naj’entus Down!

Title says it all! - Grats Southern Wardens :)

Out from hiding? Maybe!

Posted in Uncategorized on May 9, 2008 by curseoftongues

As winter is coming, my life will finally die down a bit and i will only have WoW and School to worry about (which im so excited about) because now i can have a little more fun in WoW and not just focus and be online for raiding - Which means more alt fun!
Im especially looking forward to leveling my Undead Mage and Priest a little more, i’m hoping to hit 70 before Wrath of the Lich King on both, but that is probably unlikely.

When Wrath of the Lich King does finally come out i might seriously think about changing mains, but i have to think about a few things, 2 main ones being the play style and what class i have truely loved leveling. Don’t get me wrong i looove playing my Warlock, but i have been playing her for so long now.
I have thought about playing my druid in the X-pack but i don’t think she suits the play style i want to play - A caster or Healer. You’re probably thinking “What is she thinking?, the Druid has BOOMKIN”. Thing is i know that the Druid has Boomkin, but i never have really liked playing it. As for the healing aspect of it she is so much fun to heal with, being tree has been a highlight of being a druid. I have leveled her as feral from the begining then changed her back to resto each time i have hit the level cap, but leveling a druid feral is like playing a rogue (minus the vanish) and the druid is the only melee class i would ever really play, because i know i can change back to healing when ever i want. So really the druid would be my preference if i could go straight to 80 (minus the leveling as feral) and heal with her.

My other option is my Priest. She is currently shadow and level 62, so i have a fair bit of work to do. I think that the priest is the way to go, she can heal and dps plus everything in between! Leveling shadow has been so much fun especially in groups for instances and quests, if the group ever needed a healer i could always click item rack and change into my healing gear and hey presto you have a healer. In those situations I normally ask to dps than heal, and they respect that. (unless its in a really bad group then they just kick me out). Whilst leveling the priest i have been juggling the idea of changing to holy at 70 if i make it, but then i think about how much fun i have had with shadow and the damage that i can output whilst healing my self.
If i were to level the priest and raid with her at 80 my guild would love me! Due to the lack of shadow priests in our guild raiding at the moment. But then again what if blizz decided to nerf the crap out of priests in all their trees (i know not likely, but we have to think about these things) i would be stuck leveling to 80 on my warlock….AGAIN which is something i do not want to go through for another 10 levels yet.

While writting this all i could think of was leveling my priest and getting her to 70, then maybe 80 and raiding with her. Maybe the priest is the way to go and having a break from the warlock is a good idea.

Apologies…

Posted in Uncategorized on March 19, 2008 by curseoftongues

First of all I would like to apologise to everyone who has been reading this blog (probably not that many of you), but I have been busy with raiding and school lately.

To get things started again I would like to tell you about a post on the warlock forums I read a few weeks ago, it made me lol quiet hard because I realised that i wasn’t that lazy when playing my lock. The post was titled “Warlock Confessions” which indeed it was. Most of the confessions were “I don’t have shards”, or “I normally forget to Soulstone the healer” which im sure most of us do at some point in our warlock lives.

Here’s a few I have done: Forgot to Soulstone the healer, I love to DoT sheeps, I always try and pull aggro (I have cut down on that now though), I only leveled affliction because that was the only tree i knew of, I didn’t know what summoning was until at least level 30ish, I always act afk if someone asks for a summons, I hate summoning, I get anxious if my shards are under 20, I rolled a pink haired gnome…(a cute one).

That’s only a couple of mine, so make sure you keep it a secret. I would love to see other bloggers to make a post about their “confessions” just to see if they do hide their inner nub.

That’s all for now, hope to be around much more :)

Mag’s Down!

Posted in Uncategorized on February 12, 2008 by curseoftongues

Just a quick entry today guys,

On Sunday the 10th of February, Southern Wardens downed mags after about 3 tries, one of those tries getting him down to 25% or so. You can check out our boss kill on  www.southernwardens.com

We had our first look at Al’ar last night, then the server crapped its self so we had to call it early, but it defently looks like a really fun fight that i look forward to getting perfect.

Affliction

Posted in Uncategorized on February 8, 2008 by curseoftongues

I’ve decided to do a “featured” talent tree every now and then so people who are reading and learning about locks can have a run down of spec’s and gear for those spec’s.

You can have a look at the talent tree’s for the warlock here: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=I, and you can see my spec on Kimmy here (plus her gear):

http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Proudmoore&n=Kimmy.

I’m going to start with Improved corruption as it is vital to have if you want to pump out that dot power, if you get 5/5 improved corruption it gives you the instant cast which is better then waiting 2 seconds.

Suppression: This isn’t that important but i got it on Kimmy so i wouldn’t have as many resists on bosses and it helps with the Curse of Doom on Curator too.

Improved Curse of Weekness: I think your main tank/healers would love you for this talent, once again not that important but can help your tanks/healers.

Improved Drain Soul: I don’t think there is really any point in putting points into this talent, but i suppose it could be helpful in giving you 15% of your mana if the target dies and 10% of your affliction spells generating aggro - but if your one of those warlocks that loves to try and steal threat from the tank then don’t worry about it ;)

Improved Life Tap: This is an awesome talent to have especially if your healer loves you. 2/2 for this talent increases the amount of mana awarded by your Life Tap spell by 20% I personally love this talent with dark pact cause i burn through my mana quiet fast. If you do get this talent try to have bandages on hand so you don’t have an angry healer using mana on you instead of a tank.

Soul Siphon: This talent point is for the “drain life tanking” that some locks go for whilst leveling (i will go more into that at a later date) I think this talent is a must have if you have improved life tap and not many bandages, you will generate your health back quickly after life tapping, saving healer mana and such.

Improved Curse of Agony: This is where most of my damage comes from looking at stats on boss fights. It pumps out alot of shadow damage. It causes 1692 to 1704 damage over 24 seconds obviously it would cause alot more if you have alot of +shadow damage. Mine ranges from 3285 to 3427+ (bare in mind that i didn’t have Fel Armour on at the time).

Fel Concentration: This is good for “drain life tanking”, to make use of this talent you would want to have Siphon life and Improved Drain soul as this is what it is aimed at. 5/5 gives you a 14% chance to avoid interruption whilst channeling Drain Life, Drain Mana and Drain Soul which is good to have if your leveling up using the “drain life tanking” approach, due to the mobs your killing beating on you.

Amplify Curse: I find Amplify Curse to be a raid talent as it increases your effect of your next Curse of Agony, Curse of Doom by 50% (which is awesome for curator fight), or your next Curse of Exhaustion by 20%. Personally i don’t have this talent because i always forget to use it and it has quiet a big cooldown of 3 minutes.

Grim Reach: Now if your raiding Karazhan and on Prince this is helpful! (if you do the “raid stand inside the door” strat that Southern Wardens use). I think i put my points into this once or twice when i respeced a few times, but at the momment im not using it due to the point that i hardly ever see prince anymore. Im sure i will find a use for it in some other way and respec into it again though.

Nightfall: Nightfall basically give you an instant cast of Shadowbolt *if* it procs. Using Corruption and or Drain Life helps it proc more. There is a 4% chance that it will proc by using those spells. I would defently suggest getting it.

Empowered Corruption: Corruption normally receives about 93% of your +damage. Having points in this talent, it receives a total amount of 105% (1 point), 117% (2 points), and 129% (3 points). The corruption spell states that you do 1204 to 1211 damage over 21 seconds, with 3 points in Corruption you can do 2621 to 2671 depending on your +shadow damage and if you have Fel Armour on (I didn’t have Fel Armour on).

Shadow Embrace: Shadow Embrace is a physical damage reducing talent so your tanks will love you. If you get 5/5 for the talent your Corruption, Curse of Agony, Siphon Life and Seed of Corruption will cause the Shadow Embrace effect which reduces physical damage caused by 5%.

Siphon Life: I strongly suggest this talent for raiding and “drain life tanking”. It deals damage while also giving you health back, it also rocks if you have Improved Life Tap regens your health faster and saves the healers mana once again.

Curse of Exhaustion: Curse of Exhaustion i see more of a pvp talent, due to the fact it reduces your targets speed by X%. I would probably use this talent if i was a hard core pvp’er.

Shadow Mastery: This talent increases the damage dealt or life drained by your Shadow spells by 10%, so it’s a must have for raiding, and drain life tank, and pvp.

Contagion: You can say “Hello, Damage meters” for this talent, Having 5/5 gives you a massive boost in dps for Curse of Agony and Seed of Corruption by 5%, and also gives a 30% chance your affliction spells will not be dispelled. This is a Raid/Pvp talent most defently.

Dark Pact: Probably one of my favourite spells by talent points. This allows you to take 700 mana from your pet, returning 100% to you. If your lucky enough to find a lock loving pally you can get Blessing of Wisdom on your pet of choice (mine is Imp) which will help regen the mana fast on your pet. I normally Dark Pact then Life Tap so i don’t use to much of my life on bosses and such.

Improved Howl of Terror: If your a hardcore pvp’er then put all 2 points into this talent, it reduces the cast time of Howl of Terror by 1.5 seconds making it an instant cast, and the cooldown isn’t that bad.

Malediction: If your warlock leader assigns you this curse for the night the locks, shadow priests, mages and will love you. It increases bonus effect of your Curse of Shadows and Curse of Elements spells by an additional 3%. I would defently recommend this for raids.

Unstable Afflicion: If your a dot loving warlock then this is a defenant for you. Shadow energy slowly destroys the target, causing 1050 damage over 18 seconds. In addition, if the Unstable Affliction is dispelled it will cause 1575 damage to the dispeller and silence them for 5 seconds. If you spec this for raiding, i would just say its another dot, but if you spec for pvp it could be very powerful. *Note: The numbers presented are just for refference, they would be different if you had +Shadow damage, and Fel Armour activated.

GEAR: Your main objective if your affliction is to get +Shadow Damage.

Head: BattleCast Hood or Spellstrike Hood - Both crafted epics for tailoring, you can pick up the pattern in Shattered Halls (Spellstrike) and Steamvaults (Battlecast).

Neck: Manasurge Pendant - This can be picked up at G’eras for Badge of Justice. It requires 25 Badges.

Shoulder: Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders - This is a crafted tailoring epic. Pattern can be picked up from Andrion Darkspinner (Shadoweave Specialist) in Shattrath near the Mana Loom.

Back: Shawl of Shifting Probabilities - This can be picked up from G’eras with 25 Badges of Justice.

Chest: Frozen Shadoweave Robe - This is a crafted tailoring epic. Pattern can be picked up from Andrion Darkspinner (Shadoweave Specialist) in Shattrath near the Mana Loom.

Bracers: Runed Spell-Cuff - These can be picked up from G’eras with 35 Badges of Justice.

Gloves: Jaedenfire Gloves of Annihilation - These are a drop off Ambassador Hellmaw in The Shadow Labyrinth. I suggest putting a +20 Shadow Damage or +20 Spell Damage on them.

Belt: Belt of Depravity - This can be obtained by doing The Shadow Labyrinth in Heroic mode. It drops off the final boss called Murmur.

Pants: Trousers of Oblivion - These are easy to get. They drop off Talon King Ikiss the last boss in Sethekk Halls. I would suggest putting a Runic Spellthread on it.

Boots: Frozen Shadoweave Boots - These are a crafted tailoring epic. Pattern can be picked up from Andrion Darkspinner (Shadoweave Specialist) in Shattrath near the Mana Loom.

Rings: I had alot of trouble finding better +Damage rings post TBC, but basically i used Band of Dominion and Dragonslayer’s Signet. Band of Dominion is off Trash Mobs in Blackwing Lair, and Dragonslayer’s Signet is from completing “Celebrating Good Times” (Handing in Onyxia’s Head).

Trinkets: Icon of the Silver Crescent and Airman’s Ribbon of Gallantry - Both very easy to obtain. The Silver Crescent can be picked up from G’eras in Shattrath for 41 Badges of Justice. The Ribbon can be picked up from the Sha’tari Skyguard Quartermaster at Skettis, you have to obtain Exalted in order to get it.

Weapon: Greatsword of Horrid Dreams - This can be obtained by running The Shadow Labyrinth to the end boss Murmur. I would suggest putting a +40 Spell Damage Enchant on it.

Offhand: Orb of the Soul-Eater - This can be obtained from G’eras in Shattrath for 25 Badges of Justice.

Wand: Carved Witch Doctor’s Stick - This can be obtained for G’eras in Shattrash for 25 Badges of Justice.

Gems: With Gems you are looking for Spell Damage, Spell Crit and Stamina.

*Note - The gear linked above is for pre-raiding warlocks (minus the rings), You can get Badges of Justice from running Heroic instances in outland.

Big Night for SW

Posted in Uncategorized on February 5, 2008 by curseoftongues

A big night for Southern Wardens last sunday night as we downed The Lurker Below! Well done guys was a big achievement :)

After the Lurker Below we had a look at Magtheridon one word for it “WOW”. It’s a huge fight for warlocks but very fun and i do love a challenge! I’m going to run you through the fight from a warlocks prespective:

In this fight warlocks have a huge roll to play we have to banish, fear dps and sometimes be a clicker as i was last night. At the begining of the fight we start by killing the channeller closest to the door, during the first killing infernals spawn and start running a muck, as a warlock we have to banish and fear and keep up with that (mind you its quiet hard keeping up due to dpsing the channellers aswell) we also had a very helpful druid cycloning the ones that were running around that locks couldn’t fear/banish. Magtheridon has a timer before he is engaged weather you like it or not, from memory its about 2 minutes. Now between banishing/fearing AND dpsing the last channeller you have to keep watch for the blast wave if you are a clicker, so straight after the last channeller goes down i go straight to my platform when the cubes are and wait for the call on TeamSpeak to click, you have to click within 2 seconds of each other other wise you wipe the raid. Once you have the infernals down its pretty much smooth running from there on, if you can get the clicking down pat you should be fine. (Keep in mind i have yet to see past 82% of his health ;))

Hello world!

Posted in Uncategorized on February 3, 2008 by curseoftongues
Hey there everyone,
My name is Samantha (Sam for short), I play a level 70 gnome warlock named Kimmy.
She is currently Affliction/Ruin spec at this point in time, i have tried other specs and they are not for me. I also have a level 70 Night elf druid named Cyndeila, She is currently spec’d feral for farming but she use to be resto when i raided with her.

I am in the guild Southern Wardens and we raid on a 4 day basis. We have cleared Karazhan, Gruul’s lair and are currently working on TK (Void Reaver down) and SSC - The lurker below.
We have just merged with a guild called SPQR, they are fantastic people who i love to raid with, They have downed High King Maulgar, Gruul, Void Reaver, and The Lurker Below, so they are just a little bit infront of us.

Well that’s all for now, i hope to see you all soon )
